Coastal Bend Republicans is a grassroots organization designed to give a voice to all Republicans in the Coastal Bend counties of Texas and to increase our ability to bring solid, conservative government from the courthouse to the statehouse. This website www.coastalbendrepublicans.com is meant to provide a forum for differing views within the party and to find ways to expand the party while maintaining the core principles that keep our party strong.

Everyone has their own idea of what makes up the Coastal Bend. The travel industry has one list. Politicians have another. We just decided to go with the 19 counties listed as the Coastal Bend region by the Texas Comptroller. We liked these counties grouped together. They don’t all have a coast line but they do have a lot of things in common and their economics tend to depend on what happens along the Texas coast.
Politically, these counties make up a section of the state that separates strongly Democrat South Texas from the rest of Texas. Some of these counties are still strongly in the Democratic column but many are also trending Republican. In fact, a lot of them are already in the GOP column and more and more voters are voting for the GOP ticket even if they don’t consider themselves a member of the Republican Party!
It’s that independent streak that dominates a lot of people in the Coastal Bend, including those of us at this website. While we may all be Republicans here, we firmly believe that there is room to disagree under our big tent … and we believe it can happen without betraying those goals of limited government, personal responsibility and individual freedom that we all hold dear.
